Prospectus

The Wig Academy is an independent school offering 3 separate courses. These courses are designed to raise the standards of wig making within the professional theatre and hence enhance the scope for future employment into the industry.

The courses are intensive, vocational and highly practical and students should already have a basic knowledge of the subject or have the required aptitude. The students will be required to make and fit wigs on each other, to interact with each other as designer/artiste so as to gain the experience of trouble shooting a variety of problems that can occur in the fitting room.

These courses have been endorsed by several highly recognised people within the industry. On completetion of the course students will be assessed and The Wig Academy will be awarding certificates at three levels - distinction, merit or pass. This certificate will be known as The Wig Academy Diploma.

Although these courses provide the basis of the school there is scope for individual students to attend a one week course to concentrate on a specific area of his/hers choice of subject. Two further places on a month course are available as a "taster course" for beginners.

There are no formal entry requirements for these courses although it is recommended that applicants must have a prior knowledge of wigs. Applicants should be 18 years or above.
