Three Month Wig Making Course
 
Course Syllabus
Brief outline of course details:
| Week 1 |
Induction
Basics including: Etiquette & Hygiene, Head prep & measuring, wig block measuring, drawing up block, basic foundation making (toupee net) fitting. |
| Week 2 |
Foundations
Measuring & blocking, applying nets (all types), whipping, directions, partings, crowns, tensions, fitting. Students will commence to make a full wig which should be finished by week 10. This project will be ongoing throughout the course. |
| Week 3 |
Knotting
Single/double knotting, direction & thickness, subtle use of hair colour, highlights & streaks. Hard Front Foundations. |
| Week 4 |
Re-fronts
When and why, knotting of hairlines, shading & fading, reverse direction, single hair knotting. |
| Week 5 |
Weaving
Uses of: wefts, hairpieces, switches, applying pieces. |
| Week 6 |
Facial
Foundations/patterns, knotting & dressing of beards, moustaches, sideburns, eyebrows. |
| Week 7 |
Wig Dressing
Blocking washing, basic setting (without rollers), fitting and securing wigs. |
| Week 8 |
Wig Dressing
Period wigs, gents and ladies wigs, establishing characters, 18thC wigs, realising designs. |
| Week 9 |
Partial wigs - three quarter wigs
Use of: when and why, gents short nape wigs, ladies three quarter wigs application. Uses of: European hair, Animal hair, Synthetic hair. |
| Week 10 |
Project
Finish project. |
| Week 11 |
H/F Foundations
Making of: 18thC ladies and gents wigs using veg nets, caul nets, gallons, knotting of hard fronts, directions, single & double knotting, under knotting. |
| Week 12 |
Selection of choice
Personal studies, work exhibits (project wigs), discussion and summary. |

Certificate presentation |
All tools, equipment and materials are supplied on this course.
An additional beginners course of 1 month duration is available on request.
Any professional needing to concentrate on a specific area can attend a one week course that is tailor made to his/her requirements.
